JOHN 14:12
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater than these shall he do; because I go to My Father.
Jesus said that everybody believers – like you and I - would do not only the works He did while He was on earth, but also greater works. It is my opinion that we do not bother about the ‘greater works’ until we are consistently doing the ‘works.’ So, our first question should be, “What were the works that Jesus did?”
ACT 10:38 gives us some insight, telling us how Jesus “…Went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of devil…”
We see that one of the works of Jesus was healing. He healed the sick everywhere he went. Sickness is an oppression of the devil. God wants us in health. Thank God for science. Doctors are doing a great job, but medical science has limitations. There are many physical and mental conditions that medical science has no permanent solutions to. But God’s power to heal is unlimited. If Jesus healed the sick, then we ought to be doing likewise. He said we would, so we should go ahead in faith and obedience and bring glory to God.
After the Resurrection, and just before the Ascension, Jesus said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17,18). You don’t have to be ordained a pastor before you may lay hands on the sick in the Name of Jesus. Jesus has given us the power of attorney – the right to use His Name and to act in His stead – over the power of sickness and disease. We need to take that powerful Name and put it to work. We all need to be doing the works of Jesus. Think about it: all God requires us to do is put our hands on the sick, and command them to be healed in Jesus Name – and He heals them.
God’s healing power did not come to an end with the apostles of the early Church. That power is still available today through the Name of Jesus. Don’t miss out on the thrill of restoring hope and joy to those in need of healing. Be a doer of the works! |
